Overview

As soon as we caught sight of this stunning property perfectly named El Mirador, we fell instantaneously in love.

It was spring 2018 and not just the house, but the location exceeded our expectations - boasting sweeping vistas across the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

We couldn’t wait to see it live on our site, knowing we had found this fabulous Finca that our clients were sure to adore.

The beautifully presented whitewashed home sits on a towering limestone gorge, perched in a glorious position for making the most of those pretty panoramic views and offering a trail that leads down to a small river.

Everything feels tapered towards experiencing the joy of countryside life. From plucking fruit straight from the trees to collecting eggs from the chickens in the morning.

Apples, walnuts, sweet figs, fresh berries, pears and peaches – this place is an open-air pantry.

You don’t have to worry about getting your hands dirty; both the chickens and the gardens are discreetly tended once a week early in the morning by the visiting caretaker, leaving you free to enjoy the property in perfect privacy and seclusion throughout your stay.

Yet, despite the countrified vibes – the villa delivers more than its share of modern bliss. The soft lawned gardens that wrap around the swimming pool, the abundance of natural shade, the nooks and crannies for curling up with a favourite book, and the terrace for drinking in those splendid views – you may never tire of living life outdoors here.

With so many kick-back and relax spaces – everyone can pick their own corner to chill in before returning together at the end of the day.

Privacy is at a premium in this elevated Andalusian spot and we didn’t see another soul in sight overlooking the property during our visit.

Children will be in their seventh heaven at this villa – especially when they spy the tree hut with its narrow stairs and divine den like space.

While smaller children should be supervised due to the steepness of the stairs, older children have their own cosy retreat for secret meetings and first-class imaginative play. The fact that the pool is gated will also encourage parents to heave a sigh of relief.

Inside, the stylish side of Andalucía provides an elegant welcome. The owner drawing on their experience as an interior designer weaves tasteful touches throughout.

You won’t find any Ikea furniture here – instead traditional materials and colours keep things unique.

We especially liked the traditional bathroom brimming with Andalusian tiles. Note, you won’t find king sized beds here – but with high quality mattresses and bedding we didn’t find this an issue.

There’s a lot to love about this property, although those seeking to be perched close to the ocean may find the location a slight drawback.

Still, if you are happy enough with plenty of day trips on your doorstep then you won’t be disappointed.

The splendour of Granada’s glorious Alhambra Palace is only 30 minutes from your door, and the picture book hilltop village of Poniente Granadino is also well within striking distance.

The Tropical Coast of Granada is 1 hour away.

Christopher | August | 2024

This was our second time at Cortijo El Mirador. . The property has everything needed for a relaxing holiday. The gardens and swimming pool are beautiful and extremely well maintained. There are several terraces for different times of the day, to enable you to fully enjoy the views and an outside kitchen for alfresco dining. . An added bonus were the chickens who laid fresh eggs for breakfast everyday."

Did not disappoint! Exactly as pictured, in a stunning location. So much outdoor space, and great pool area. The house itself is traditional but very well kept. There were only two of us, but would equally be a great location for a group of friends, or a large family. 10 out of 10"

Really beautiful villa with the most fabulous, well-kept grounds. We loved the large pool and numerous seating options. The owners were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Loved everything about the villa, but especially memorable were the chickens, ducks and doves that the kids loved feeding and looking after during their time there. The setting of the villa was excellent with lots of different areas to sit in throughout the day to find shade from the sun."

We stayed at El Mirador for 2 weeks in late May early June. The property can only be described as magical.Set on a ridge overlooking fields of olive trees as far as the eye could see.We loved the house and found that the ceiling fans were more than adequate in keeping the place cool with temperatures in the low 30's.The approach road can be a little challenging at first but becomes easier over time. The grounds are truly extensive with a beautiful pool in the lower garden. Our granddaughter loved collecting the eggs in the morning and releasing the doves. One highlight was seeing Mouflon [wild sheep] eating the fallen apricots from the trees. We all enjoyed eating meals on the various patio areas surrounding the property. After a slight hiccup with an earlier property we found the booking process with Rustical Travel to be first class and would have full confidence in using them again. The hosts Fernando and Alejandra were there to greet us on arrival and were extremely helpful throughout our stay.First class!!"

The last minute service from Rustical travel was excellent smooth and easy to book. The property was at the end of a typical white road which was rather bumpy and uneven, don’t go with a low car! Once on the estate it was beautiful, the gardens, the pool and a well stocked kitchen. Like many have said the beds are just too small. I would recommend they purchase at least one large bed for the master. I was aware of the size of the beds but took a risk as it was such a beautiful house. Despite no English and my lack of Spanish Goggle helped us and we had an amazingly peaceful holiday in a beautiful house."

We loved our stay in this remote place In the middle of olive tree fields. Kids loved taking care of the chickens and watching the doves fly above the property. Commodities are 10 mn away and the Alhambra is less than 30 mn. We had a pick in temperature a few nights and the lack of AC was difficult but if you keep everything tightly closed by day you are just fine."

We had a wonderful holiday in this villa, it was the perfect place for a relaxing holiday and totally exceeded our expectations. The villa was clean, comfortable, specious and had everything you could wish for in a holiday villa but the highlight for us was was the outdoor space. The gardens were huge and had so many seating areas, there was so much space for the children to run around and play and lots of things to discover, beautiful views, a tree house, a hammock for two and in the lower part of the gardens, a vegetable patch with chickens, geese and rabbits which the children loved. The pool was huge and set in a beautiful laid out space with a raised patio area with further seating area.. The owners came twice a week to tend the animals, pool and gardens, but were never intrusive just very friendly and on hand to make sure we had everything we needed. Rustical Travel made booking and paying very simple and straightforward and it was particularly helpful to have travel directions complete with photo's to direct us from the airport to the villa, Excellent service. The only minus were the beds in the villa were comfortable but rather short so out feet overhung the bottom of the bed, and we are not overly tall people , however, that did not distract from out enjoyment of this villa at all and we will definately be booking this villa again. Many thanks for a fantastic holiday. The Szuba family"

We had a lovely time at Fernanda and Alejandra's house. They were very welcoming and informative in greeting us and the house itself was excellent. Very well equipped, with everything we needed, especially as we were travelling with a baby - everything we needed was there. We especially loved all the outdoor space and the many different verandas we could move to depending on where the sun was shining in the day. We very much hope to come back one day and enoy the house again, especially in the summer. The only minor comment we had is that the bathrooms could maybe be better designed - a bigger bath or shower upstairs with the two bedrooms would be more useful if at all possible."
