Overview
Vila Blanca is one of those properties that makes a positive impression from the moment you step inside. The owners have undertaken a thoughtful renovation, creating a village house that feels stylish, comfortable and full of character.
Rather than relying on extravagant features, the appeal comes from the quality of the design and the way the various living spaces work together.
Arranged over four floors, the house reveals itself gradually as you move between the different levels. The layout feels both interesting and practical, while preserving the character of a traditional village property.
The entrance floor serves as an attractive reception area, the first floor accommodates two comfortable bedrooms and the main bathroom facilities, and the second floor is dedicated to open-plan living, with the kitchen and sitting area forming the social heart of the house.
It is from here that Villa Blanca truly comes into its own. The terrace adjoining the living area enjoys magnificent views across Gaucín, Gibraltar Bay and, on clear days, as far as Morocco.
We inspect many holiday properties every year, and these are among the most memorable views we have encountered. The terrace itself is equally impressive, providing a wonderful setting for breakfast, long lunches or an evening drink while taking in the ever-changing scenery.
The top floor adds another layer of character to the property. Here guests will find an open bedroom with an adjoining shower and WC area, an arrangement that may not suit everyone but which contributes to the property's distinctive personality. This room opens directly onto the rooftop terrace, arguably Villa Blanca's most surprising feature.
Unlike many village rooftops, this terrace enjoys an excellent degree of privacy and feels like a secluded retreat above the village. Furnished with sun loungers and enjoying the same far-reaching views, it is a wonderful place to relax.
The rooftop terrace also features a stylish stock tank pool, a design-led alternative to a conventional plunge pool that provides a refreshing place to cool off while enjoying the scenery.
Another advantage is the location itself. Guests can walk to local bars, restaurants and shops, making Villa Blanca particularly appealing for those who enjoy being part of village life rather than relying on a car throughout their stay.
In our opinion, Villa Blanca is best suited to couples, friends and families with older children who appreciate character, thoughtful design and exceptional outdoor living spaces. Its appeal lies not in extensive facilities or large grounds, but in the quality of the renovation, the exceptional terraces and some of the finest views we have seen in Gaucín.
